BONFIRE ~ SPENCER MOUNTAIN
Bonfire is a GO for
Saturday, Oct.1 . As always, everyone is welcome. Wives, husbands,
significant others, kids, dogs, friends, etc. Those of you on
Facebook, search for the event "2011 Bonfire and Chili Cook
Off”"
Rain date: Rain date is Oct.8. Please check
this page by noon on Friday to see if bonfire is going to be rainded
out.
Friday night - some of us will be camping out Friday
night. There are grills available if you need ...them. If you can't
make it for the big party on Saturday, come join us on Friday. I will
be there all day and... night.
Saturday - come on down
whenever you want. We are also planning on having live music by Mr.
Marty Matthews!! We will have a TV for those that want to watch
sports. We are also planning a hay ride for the kids and those of us
that want to remember our childhood days. We also hope to have a
"jump castle" for the kids from 3pm - 6pm.
We are
also going to have a 50/50 raffle with the proceeds from that going
to ???. Please don't feel any pressure to participate. It is all
voluntary.
Food and drink: Instead of BBQ this year, we plan
to have a “Chili Cook Off.” If you want to participate,
please let me know. If you don’t want to bring chili, just
bring a side dish to share and whatever you want to drink. We do have
limited refrigerator and freezer storage if needed. Grills are
available for cooking on Friday and Saturday night.
Tents and
RVs: There are PLENTY of spots to pitch a tent or park an RV or
trailer. There is plenty of car parking available. PLEASE don't drink
and drive.
Other things to bring: It is always a good idea to
bring camping chairs. Feel free to bring any games you want. If you
play a guitar, bongos, etc., bring them. I plan on having a poker
table set up for those that want to play.
Dogs: Dogs are
welcome but must be controlled. There is a pond adjacent to the
property that has ducks. Dogs MUST NOT go near the pond.
Our
cell phone coverage is HORRIBBLE there. If you get lost, please call
704-824-1326. That is the landline and we will check messages
periodically.

Charlotte
I-85 south to exit 23, Lowell/McAdenville
Keep
left at fork in ramp
Turn right at top of ramp on
NC-7/McAdenville Rd
Go about a mile or so and turn right on N.
Main St. (it is the first stoplight you come to).
N.Main St.
becomes Lowell-Spencer Mountain Rd.
Go about 1.6 miles and
turn right on Hall Rd. (next to Spencer Mountain Baptist Church).
There is NOT a sign for Hall Rd. If you hit the T intersection a
hundred yards down, you missed it.
Keep on Hall Rd. to the end
where you will see a big gray building.
